As planned, I started writing Children of the Resolution today. A more worrying event than I’d admitted, actually, given that it’s a personally very important book — and that I wasn’t sure how easily I would find the right voices for such a complex piece. For example, sections need to sound childlike without actually being childlike… I need a sense of the child, without losing the adult version of the child looking back at him. A balancing act but one which, thankfully, seems to be coming naturally. The anxiety dropped away as soon as I started writing, and now, with two thousand words under my belt, I’m enjoying it.
This is going to be fun.
