As planned, I started writing Children of the Resolution today. A more worrying event than I’d admitted, actually, given that it’s a personally very important book — and that I wasn’t sure how easily I would find the right voices for such a complex piece. For example, sections need to sound childlike without actually being childlike… I need a sense of the child, without losing the adult version of the child looking back at him. A balancing act but one which, thankfully, seems to be coming naturally. The anxiety dropped away as soon as I started writing, and now, with two thousand words under my belt, I’m enjoying it.
This is going to be fun.
I am so tickled for you. I always do enjoy your blogs and I am always so eager to hear of your lastest. Good on you love…!! Happy New Year!!
Thanks, m’dear! And a happy and adventurous New Year to you!
Relax and let the writing flow. Good luck and Happy New Year!
I’ll do that, Wilson 🙂 Thank you, and a very Happy New Year to you, too.
I can appreciate the challenge. Can such a balancing act be achieved in the first draft?
To a degree, I think, yes, Gecko — though it always requires revision. I may post my week’s work over the weekend and let others decide, though. Naturally, I’m too close to it to know anything for sure.
