I have mixed feelings towards Auster, actually, Chris. When he’s good, he really shines for me — but novels such as In The Country of Last Things I just couldn’t finish (well, I could have, but I had no wish to.) His endings can often be weak, and his much acclaimed New York Trilogy left me rather cold — but I loved Oracle Night, The Book of Illusions, Mr Vertigo and The Brooklyn Follies.

You seem to be a fan of Paul Auster. What do you like about his work? Just wondering. I’ve read some harsh criticism on him.
